The Thirteenth Hour EP. 16 | Erasure of Women in Sports?
In this episode we discuss the controversy of allowing transgender ‘female’ (biological male) athletes to compete against women. We bring up the recent scandal surrounding Lia Thomas, a UPenn swimmer, who’s teammates have issued a letter voicing concerns over his biological advantages. We also note Laurel Hubbard, a transgender Olympic weightlifter, and his less-than-stellar performance despite his male biology. Finally, we bring up Michael Phelps’ comments on the subject as well as his ex’s disagreement.
